Forward plan 2028
Introduction
This forward plan sets the framework for the libraries to deliver the University of Leeds Libraries vision for 2030: Knowledge for all.
University of Leeds Libraries, Collections and Galleries is one of the UK’s major academic research libraries, with globally significant collections and excellent user-focused services. In 2021, the University of Leeds Libraries vision for 2030: Knowledge for all was launched. This strategy comprises four strategic programmes and three underpinning themes that support the University strategy. The first strategic action plan supporting the vision, Forward Plan 2025, was completed successfully.
Forward Plan 2028 was shaped through collaboration and consultation with staff and stakeholders across the service, and takes account of One Leeds, the University’s strategic refresh.
About this document
We set out Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) for the next two years under four strategic programmes. Our cultural shift objectives support the three underpinning themes that strengthens the culture, behaviours and ways of working that enable our people and services to thrive.
During discussion, to refer to any objective, use the objective reference eg O2. To refer to any key result, use the objective reference followed by key result reference e.g. O2–KR1 or O19–KR3.
Governance and working approach
There will be action plans supporting each element of this forward plan, which will allow for prioritisation and progression of projects and initiatives and will support horizontal and vertical collaboration (across teams and across all levels).
We have adopted six leadership principles that will guide us in how we approach this forward plan:
- Trust and empowerment
- Inclusivity and psychological safety
- Being bold and taking risks
- High challenge; high support
- Developing and enabling potential
- Collaborating across silos.
