Who can use the Library

Honorary staff and visiting researchers

Honorary staff and visiting researchers are eligible for full access to the Library's facilities. This includes remote access to its e-resources (online journals and databases) for academic purposes.

Make sure you have a Library account

To join the Library, you need to have a current record in the central staff database. Ask your department HR contact if you do not already have one.

Your library account will be active 10 days from when your staff record was set up.

If you need to access the library in the meantime we can give you a temporary record. Bring a letter from your head of school (including the end date of your work or contract) and some photo ID.

Use your staff ID to enter and borrow items

Your University staff ID will function as your membership card and will grant you entry and borrowing rights. You can borrow up to 50 items.

If you do not have a staff card, bring a letter from your head of school (including the end date of your work or contract) and some photo ID to any Library reception desk during core hours. We will give you a temporary Library ticket, which will be valid until the end of your work or contract.

Get your library username and password

To gain remote access to e-resources, you will need an IT username and password. If you do not have one already, your departmental IT representative can arrange it for you.

Your department, not the Library, determines your eligibility to use Library resources.
