Obtain a Digital Object Identifier (DOI)

Getting a DOI from the Research Data Leeds Repository

Email researchdataenquiries@leeds.ac.uk with:

  1. Dataset Title; Creator(s); Abstract
  2. Publication / proofing deadline if you are publishing a paper
  3. RDL will allocate a DOI within two working days or less
  4. The DOI will be made 'fully functional' upon receipt of the research data or by your publication deadline, whichever is sooner

DOIs are only allocated on the understanding that the associated data will be deposited in the Research Data Leeds Repository.

Data deposited outside the University of Leeds

  1. Check what type of identifier(s) your chosen data centre or repository service uses
  2. If DOIs are not used, make sure that the identifier is unique and persistent so that it can be included in a data statement or citation

If you have questions about DOIs please email researchdataenquiries@leeds.ac.uk
